Gooding Immigration Release Paths
The ICE detention network includes many detention sites and contract facilities. A receiving site can change after processing or transfer. Gooding County Jail should not be called an ICE detention center merely because a person may have been held on an immigration warrant or transferred to federal civil custody. The local jail booking and the ICE detention episode are separate records.
A person who leaves Gooding County Jail may return to the community, enter IDOC custody, move to another jail, or be handed to ICE. Only the Gooding release disposition and destination can distinguish those routes at the county level. If ICE received the person, a later ODLS result concerns the next custody source. It does not rewrite the county event.
A county release to ICE is a transfer of custody, not proof of release to the community.
Search Gooding ICE Custody
The official Online Detainee Locator System, or ODLS, is the starting point for present ICE detention. It offers two search routes. One uses an A-number and country of birth. The other uses biographical details. Exact name form matters, and the tool has age and system limits.
- Use the A-number route when that identifier is known.
- Enter the country of birth requested by the tool.
- Use the biographical route only when the number is unavailable.
- Check spelling, spacing, and name order before retrying.
- Contact ICE ERO or the detention facility if a reliable match does not appear.
Recent processing, transfer, name formatting, age, privacy rules, and data timing can affect a result. A non-result cannot certify release. Nor does it prove that ICE never held the person. ODLS is aimed at current location, not historical proof.
Read Immigration Locator Results
The locator's purpose is narrower than the BOP locator. It helps identify a present detention location for eligible records. It should not be described as a Gooding County release list, a court docket, or a permanent immigration history.
| Result | Safe interpretation |
|---|---|
| Detention location appears | Contact the listed facility and verify the current record |
| No match | Retry exact identifiers and contact ERO; do not infer release |
| Location changes | A transfer may have occurred within the ICE network |
| County booking ended | Ask Gooding for destination; that fact alone does not establish community release |
When the locator displays a facility, use its official contact route. Ask about information the agency is authorized to provide. For past events, seek the appropriate agency record or court file instead of expecting ODLS to preserve a former location.
Gooding County ICE Agreement
An August 17, 2020 Gooding County and ICE agreement documented a 287(g) Warrant Service Officer arrangement. The local angle matters because it shows why a Gooding jail release entry may need a destination field. Under such an arrangement, a local custody end could be followed by service of an immigration warrant and an agency handoff.
The document is historical. It does not prove that the program remains active in 2026, that every person with an immigration matter was transferred, or that Gooding County Jail is a permanent immigration facility. Current participation must be checked with ICE and the Sheriff's Office. Copying the old agreement into a present-tense claim would be inaccurate.
This distinction is one of Gooding County's most important release-record issues. Ask for the actual release type, time, and receiving agency for the named booking. A bare “released” label can hide the difference between going home and entering the next custody system.
Confirm Gooding County Handoffs
Start with the Gooding County Sheriff's Office when the episode began at the county jail. The official county site has no public roster, recent-release view, or release archive. Call 208-934-4422 with the full name, birth date if known, and booking period. Ask whether the booking ended, the release date and time, the disposition, and whether another agency received the person.
If telephone disclosure is limited, request the retained booking and release record. A focused request should identify the booking and ask for release date/time, release type, and destination or receiving agency. Ask for an estimate before chargeable work. Idaho public-record exemptions may require redaction or withholding of some fields, but the agency should identify the basis it applies.
- Gooding Sheriff confirms the county booking event.
- ODLS checks eligible present ICE detention records.
- ERO addresses detention, transfer, or release questions within its authority.
- Immigration court records address proceedings and orders.
- Federal counsel can interpret a case-specific order.
ICE Release Versus Transfer
Several words must remain distinct. A transfer moves a person between custodians or facilities. Release ends a particular custody episode. Removal is an immigration action and should not be inferred from a missing locator result. Supervision may follow release from detention, but its terms and current status require the responsible federal source.
- Detainer
- A request or hold tied to another authority; it is not itself proof of final transfer.
- A-number
- An immigration identifier used in the locator and agency records.
- ERO
- ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, the office responsible for detention and related enforcement functions.
- ODLS
- The online tool for locating eligible people presently in ICE detention.
A court order and a physical custody event also differ. An order may authorize a result, while the custodian's record confirms implementation. Read documents in sequence and match identifiers.
Other Gooding Custody Systems
IDOC does not track federal immigration detention. BOP likewise does not supply ICE locator data. VINELink directs immigration searches to ODLS and does not serve as a lasting ICE release archive. Keeping the systems separate prevents a false conclusion when one search returns nothing.
If the person entered Idaho state custody after Gooding jail, use the Idaho state correctional system search. For a federal criminal sentence, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons system. For the county booking and court disposition, return to the Gooding County release record path and Idaho iCourt. One person may have records in more than one source, but each source proves only its own event.
Never treat “not found” in ODLS, BOP, VINE, or IDOC as interchangeable proof of community release.
Request Immigration Release Records
A useful inquiry identifies the person, the A-number when known, the approximate detention period, and the exact event sought. Ask for an existing detention, transfer, or release record. Avoid an open-ended request that asks staff to create a narrative. Privacy and immigration-record rules can restrict what a third party receives.
For the Gooding side, use the county booking number and date range. For ICE, follow the agency's current records and ERO channels. For an immigration proceeding, use the official court source or counsel. Preserve confirmation numbers, dates, and the name of the office contacted. Those details make later reconciliation easier when systems update at different times.
If a current location is urgent for legal contact, use ODLS and the facility shown. If personal safety is at issue, use appropriate emergency or victim-service channels rather than relying on a web result that may lag.
ICE Network Contact Route
There is no one ICE detention address in Gooding County to list. The proper contact follows the live matched record or the responsible ERO field office. Begin with the national official locator, then use the facility and office identified there. Recheck because transfers can change the location.

Contact the listed facility or responsible ERO office
For the local booking, contact Gooding County Sheriff's Office, 624 Main Street, Gooding, Idaho 83330, at 208-934-4422. No official source states routine records hours, so call before visiting. The two contacts answer different questions.
Prepare the A-number, full legal name, country of birth, alternate spellings, approximate transfer date, and the Gooding booking number before contacting an office. Ask which agency held the person on the date in question and whether the office can identify a receiving facility or later event. Avoid sending sensitive identity documents through an unverified email address. If counsel is involved, route case-specific legal questions through counsel. A family member's recollection, an old web result, and a county transfer note may each describe a different point in time. Preserving the check date and the exact wording returned by ODLS makes those sources easier to reconcile without turning a missing result into an unsupported release claim.
